The 2026 ICEthics Annual Conference, titled Echoes of Conflict, Paths to Peace, will explore the evolving role of museums in contexts of war, memory, and post-conflict recovery. Taking place on October 27–28, 2026, at the War Childhood Museum in Sarajevo, the conference brings together scholars, museum professionals, and practitioners to examine how museums move beyond preservation toward active engagement in dialogue, empathy, and peacebuilding.
Focusing on themes such as difficult heritage, ethical responsibility, digital memory, and the role of lived experience in shaping narratives, the conference invites critical reflection on how museums can contribute to healing without erasing complexity or reinforcing divisions.
We welcome submissions from diverse disciplines that engage with questions of memory, trauma, representation, and the social responsibility of museums in times of conflict and recovery.
