Future of Arts, Culture & Technology Symposium

  • ACMI, Fed Square Melbourne (map)

FACT 2026 Conference will be held February 11-13, 2026 IN Melbourne, Australia .

ACMI's annual Future of Arts, Culture & Technology Symposium (FACT) returns for its fourth year, bringing together thought leaders, artists, technologists, and cultural innovators to imagine what’s next for arts and technology in Australia. From immersive experiences to forward-thinking discussions, FACT 2026 will inspire, challenge, and connect you with the ideas and people shaping the cultural landscape.

Now in its fourth year, FACT explores the big questions shaping technology and its impact on the cultural sector and the people driving it: artists, workers, and creators. How can we regain a sense of agency and control in the face of rapidly changing technologies?

This year’s lineup features Jason Scott (Internet Archive, US), Ruby Justice Thelot (designer, artist, and cyberethnographer, US), Sofia Widmann (MuseumBooster, Austria), Jessica Walthew (University of Glasgow, UK), Sewon Barrera (M+, Hong Kong), and more inspiring speakers to be announced.

  • Jason Scott and Jessica Walthew examine how we retain evidence of an increasingly ephemeral digital present and decide what to preserve

  • Sofia Widmann highlights the latest collaborative institutional practices from Europe

  • Sewon Barrera showcases emerging movements from East Asia

  • Ruby Justice Thelot invites us to reflect on how online culture continues to redefine taste, identity, and intimacy.
