International Conference "Cultural Policy and Sustainable Development: A Global Dialogue"

The Pontifical Catholic University of Peru – PUCP and the scientific journal Cultural Trends are organizing the second Latin American edition of the Global Dialogues on Cultural Policy Research series.
Organized by PUCP, this event is part of the Global Dialogues on Cultural Policies series promoted by the scientific journal Cultural Trends (Taylor & Francis). Its realization will consolidate Peru as a global platform for debate on cultural policy research, grounded in North - South exchange.

This meeting follows the successful inaugural global dialogue held at the Gabriela Mistral Cultural Center in Santiago de Chile, from November 28 to 30, 2023. That edition, organized by the University of Chile and the Ministry of Cultures, Arts and Heritage, brought together more than 250 delegates from 20 countries and 5 continents, in an open, non-hierarchical and multi-sectoral format of dialogue.

Conference objectives

The Global Dialogue at PUCP - the second of its kind organized outside Europe - seeks to broaden the community of cultural policy researchers from Latin America, Europe and the world. Its main motivation is to foster the creation of research networks and academic cooperation between Latin America and the global arena.

The specific objectives are:

  • To encourage the production and publication of new knowledge on the relationship between cultural policies and sustainable development.

  • To share this knowledge with artists, entrepreneurs, representatives of international cooperation agencies and public officials.

  • To strengthen international cultural cooperation for development in Latin America.

To ensure broad access to knowledge, all activities will be free of charge and open to the public in-persona format. The plenary sessions will also be available via live streaming. The program will further inlcude networking spaces and exchange sessions  for researchers, artists, cultural managers, public officials and representatives of international cooperation.
