MA COnference 2025

Following the success of Conference 2024, we look forward to welcoming you to Conference 2025 at Sain Ffagan Amgueddfa Werin Cymru – St Fagans National Museum of History in Cardiff.

Our conference theme this year focuses on perthyn, the Welsh word meaning to belong.

Museums and their collections and stories belong to everyone, and all communities have the right to representation, participation and agency. Belonging is not just a principle but a basic human right.

At a time of global political, economic, social upheaval and polarisation, we discuss how ideas of community, solidarity and friendship bring people together in our museums to make them such special and engaging places.

As Europe’s largest museum conference, we bring the sector together to explore how museums, galleries and heritage sites of all types and sizes are working with their communities and their collections to inspire audiences and make real differences to society.

In the context of challenging societal and financial landscapes, the conference helps us work together to find innovative solutions to the critical issues of the day and make us more relevant, impactful and sustainable.

Attendees will be inspired by the latest thinking and practical ideas, including the opportunities of new technology, the power of working with communities, and the need to develop productive partnerships.

With the beautiful backdrop of the award-winning St Fagan’s National Museum of History, and rooted in the cultural context of Wales, the conference is the perfect opportunity to step away from your day-to-day work and network with colleagues to expand your thinking and your practice.
